On Sunday, March 9, 2025, the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida gathered at DaySpring for a Service of Remembrance and Dedication honoring the late Rt. Rev. Dabney T. Smith, the diocese’s fifth bishop. The event marked the official rededication of the diocesan office building as the Bishop Dabney T. Smith Diocesan Center, acknowledging Bishop Smith’s instrumental role in relocating the offices to DaySpring—a vision he championed during his tenure.
The service commenced in Kline Hall with heartfelt tributes to Bishop Smith’s leadership and pastoral care. Attendees then proceeded to the diocesan offices for the dedication ceremony, followed by a reception that fostered fellowship and reflection. The date held special significance, coinciding with the 18th anniversary of Bishop Smith’s consecration as bishop.
