Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton Calls a New Rector

The diocese is thrilled to welcome the Reverend Michael Brady, M.Ed., M.Div., as the next Rector of Christ Church of Bradenton. Currently serving as Priest Assistant at St. James Episcopal Church in Ormand Beach, FL, Fr. Mike and his wife, Natalie, are looking forward to their first service at Christ Church on September 8.

More About Fr. Mike

A native of Louisiana, Fr. Mike was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate in June 2019 and the Sacred Order of Priests in January 2020 in the Diocese of Texas. He left his cure as Vicar of the oldest African American Episcopal Church in the state of Texas, St. Augustine of Hippo–Galveston, founded in 1884, for him and his wife to move to Central Florida, where he was called to serve as Assistant Priest at St James Ormond Beach.

Fr. Mike is a former ‘bi-vocational priest’ and served as a Real Estate Agent in Houston. He spent 25 years as a corporate Human Resources director in his earlier life. He also served as a high school band and chorus director and worked in Pipe Organ Sales and Service early in his career.

Fr. Mike has an undergraduate degree in Music and Education as well as a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Northeast Louisiana University. He also has his Master of Divinity from Newburgh Theological Seminary in Indiana and is pursuing his Doctor of Ministry at Houston Christian University.

His wife, Natalie, is an engineer serving as Vice President of High Voltage Solutions for Crescent Power Systems out of New Orleans, where she works with high-voltage energy substations and transmission lines.  She is working on her DBA in Business Intelligence at Marymount University. They have a 23-year-old son, Sean-Michael, who graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA, where he was a pitcher on the baseball team. He is continuing his education and will pursue his law degree. They have three fur babies: Frenchy (Basset Hound/Lab mix), Tucker (Basset Hound), and Bear (mixed breed).

Fr. Mike is a classically trained musician and enjoys music (recorded and live); loves to read and study (as does Natalie) and is an avid poker player. They love theme parks, are annual pass holders for Universal Studios and Disney World, and love traveling. In their spare time, they rescue Bassett Hounds.
