It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the death of the Rev. Margaret Platt Koor, Deacon, on November 24, 2025. She was 81. Deacon Margaret now rests in the loving arms of our Lord. She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey (Jeff) Koor, Melissa Mattes, and Jennifer Walke.

For more than 30 years, Deacon Margaret faithfully served Christ and the people of the Diocese of Southwest Florida. She was ordained by the Rt. Rev. Roger Harris on June 13, 1992.  She ministered as Deacon and Parish Nurse at Church of the Nativity, Sarasota (1992–1995), Saint Boniface, Siesta Key (1995–2003), Noel House, and Saint Nathaniel’s, North Port (2003–2016). She was also very active in Cursillo of Southwest Florida, supporting Cursillo weekends and events. Upon her retirement in 2016, she continued her life of discipleship as a beloved member of St. Nathaniel’s.

Deacon Margaret’s vocation as a Registered Nurse included ministry in psychiatric care, labor and delivery, and maternity. Her passion for parish nursing allowed her to unite healing and faith, embodying the compassion of Christ to all entrusted to her care.
