A new space for islanders to enjoy a few moments of peace and serenity is now open; the Community Meditation Room at St. Michael’s Church. It has its own exterior entrance off the back parking lot at 2304 Periwinkle Way.
The goal of the St. Michael’s Meditation Room is to provide a calming space where individuals can reflect and find solace and strength in this serene atmosphere. The room serves as a refuge from the noise and busyness of the world, promoting inner peace with soft lighting, comfortable seating options and calming window treatments. Unlike the main sanctuary of the church, which is often used for communal worship, a meditation room is designed for solitude and introspection, allowing visitors to deepen their spiritual journey in a peaceful environment.
There are a variety of items throughout the room like gratitude cards, brief meditation practices and quotes. Items marked “take home” can be taken with you, or given to someone you know who might benefit from them including prayer bears, angel wing shells, scripture bookmarks and prayer shawls. A feature of the room is an interactive wall that everyone is invited to participate in. There are three different colors of tags that people can write a prayer request, a gratitude thought or an inspiring quote and then hang on the wall. The prayer requests will be prayed for each week by members of a Prayer Team as well as anyone else who reads the tags and writes the date it was prayed for on the back of those tags.
All are welcome to visit the Meditation room any day of the week, anytime. For more information contact St. Michael’s at [email protected] or 230-472-2173 or www.saintmichaels-sanibel.org.
