We’re excited to announce that this year’s Word Out will feature Chris Whitaker as our keynote workshop leader at DaySpring on January 13, 2026.
Chris is an award-winning communications specialist and the Director of Communications, Outreach, and Youth Ministry at Christ Church in Short Hills, NJ, a vibrant and diverse suburban parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Newark. He also serves on the Board of Episcopal Communicators, bringing a deep well of experience from across the wider Church.

At Christ Church, Chris leads communications strategy and digital ministries, expands outreach initiatives, and creates meaningful ways for youth to be fully engaged in parish life. His background in nonprofit leadership and strategic communication helps him share the church’s mission in ways that are clear, engaging, and accessible — exactly the kind of practical wisdom we’re eager to bring to Word Out.
